| Gallipoli - Troy - Ayvacik - Assos - Local Village Tour from Istanbul | ||
| DAY 1 | Istanbul to Gallipoli. Gallipoli Tour and Saty in Canakkale or Eceabat.
06:30-07:00 You will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul (Pick up time can change according to your hotel location.)
12:30 Arrive in Eceabat. Upon arrival, have lunch in the restaurant. From here you will drive to the ANZAC Battlefield area to start an emotional & memorable tour.
On tour you will visit:
* Kabatepe War Museum
At the end of the tour, you will be transfered your hotel. Check in and overnight in Cannakkale. | |
| DAY 2 | Troy - Ayvacik - Assos - Balabanli Village Tour and Stay in Canakkale or Eceabat / Bus Transfer to Your Destination.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel around 08:00 and then drive to Troy to proceed to the ancient site of Troy, 36km south of Canakkale. Your guide will walk you around the 9 layers of ancient cities built on top of each other the earliest dating back to 3000 B.C. The commentary is filled with mythical stories of the site & surrounding areas while filling you in on the history of the excavations past & present. The story of Troy is part-mythology & part-archaeology.
On tour you will visit:
* A replica of the wooden horse that you can climb into for a photo.
After visiting Troy, depart for Ayvacik – a small non touristic town with a great Friday market where you can buy all sorts of local produce, fruit & vegetables and handicrafts. You’ll have plenty of time to wander around and maybe even pick up a few bargains! You will have a pleasant choice of local foods which you may buy for your lunch.
Then, we depart for Assos, A traditional stone house village set upon a mountainside with a beautiful harbour down the bottom, overlooking the island of Lesvos. Here we will tour the Temple of Athena on the highest point of the mountain and have Turkish tea at a local Cay (tea) House which has an extraordinary set of coffee tables to sit at.
Late afternoon departure for Balabanli Village, Here you will wander the traditional village seeing sights such as the old wheat crushing wheel and the thatched summer houses for the sheep. Your day out will be topped off by a visit to local house. A small stone built house which is full of Turkish hospitality and a cook who can whip up a storm. Mother will then delight you with her traditional home cooked dinner in which we will all sit together as family and share the meal.
* Late evening departure for Eceabat. Anyone wishing to go southbound may be dropped off at the bus station in Ayvacik for an onward bus journey or after arrival to Eceabat bus transfer to your destination.

| Please take note of the following: * 30% discount for children below the age 7, free for the ages 0-2 * You are kindly requested to present your self at the pick up point 15 minutes prior the pre advised pick up time * There are very few toilets in the battlefield area. Go before tour! * There are also very few bins so please collect your rubbish & put it back on the bus so we can dispose of it responsibly later on. * Take your bathers/togs/cossies/swimmers for a swim at lunchtime when & if time & weather permits. * There are no shops at the battlefields, so remember to buy water & nibblies before you leave Eceabat. * Remember to take sunscreen & a hat if you're not fond of direct sunlight as there is minimal shade available. Shorts are fine to wear on the peninsula but remember to wear sensible shoes as you will be walking on uneven ground at times & there are snakes in the area. | ||
